Affordable Hearing Aid Crafted by Georgia Tech Inventors

June 2019 – Developers at Georgia Tech created a low-cost and self-fitting hearing aid in part, to address limited access to audiologists in rural and resource-poor environments. The device was created with the potential to be put together by the user, which allows for the widespread dissemination of the hearing aid and “easy repair and maintenance.” The inventors at Georgia Tech released the platform as open source, allowing other researchers to access the technology as well as participate in contributing software and hardware improvements.
