Project Description: Teams of sophomore industrial design students will be undertaking a project to design a product to aid people with limited vision in performing everyday activities. They will be using simulation (like virtual reality) to identify issues with designs. We are looking for participants to help in the following areas:
- Help students understand the differences between a simulation and real-life experiences.
- Assist in a design activity to help them develop better solutions.
- Help students get a clearer understanding of your needs/wants
- Provide feedback and critiques for the designs.
There will be two separate meetings throughout the course of the project. You may participate in one or both sessions.
Participation Criteria: We are seeking people with vision limitations, 18 years old or older. We are looking for between 8 to 12 participants for each of the two meetings.
Activities:
- 1st meeting, Wed. March 29 (three hours) Initial input on design.
- 2nd meeting, Fri. April 7 (three hours) - Test the usability and effectiveness of student solutions.
Compensation: Compensation for time/travel to each session will be provided as follows:
- $60 total for the first session
- $60 total for the second session
