Training & Dissemination Projects

  • Capacity Building and Training (T1) provides opportunities for advanced-level graduate student research and training on accessibility and usability of current and evolving wireless technologies and on the application of Universal Design into products.
    • Task 1: Advanced and Next-Generation Design Courses will strategically target design and engineering courses to encourage universal design or socially and culturally responsive design.
    • Task 2: Participatory and Inclusive Design Workshops will be designed to both raise advocacy among stakeholders for inclusive design, and to produce collaterals that may fuel future design projects, including problems, personas, and design concepts.
  • Policy and Outreach Initiatives to Accelerate Adoption (DS1) addresses three tasks:
    • Task 1: Inform regulatory rulemakings and policy activities will inform the development of wireless technology policy and regulations so it is inclusive of people with disabilities.
    • Task 2: Increase outreach and training to consumers with disabilities will provide consumer oriented training and technical assistance in selecting and using wireless and wearable devices, services and applications.
    • Task 3: Advance awareness among industry of accessibility solutions to improve access to wireless products and services.

    The State of Technology conference in 2020, preceded by 3 leadership workshops, will address themes such as trends and threats to an inclusive future of wirelessly connected technologies. Solutions oriented webinars are among some planned events.
